Re: Movietone music + effects tracks vs. true 'silents' - They were also released with the expectation that many theaters would be running them with live accompaniment rather than playing the optical track. In some cases the filmmakers intended for them to be run silent, and the studio tacked on an optical track that the filmmaker had nothing to do with. A good example is Sunrise, which Murnau intended to be projected at 100 feet per minute. Running it with optical sound at 90 feet per minute (24fps) altered his intended presentation. --JesseCrooks (talk) 19:29, 6 May 2020 (PDT)
